If you’re anything like me and have never traveled outside the United States, you probably don’t understand the difference in our electricity compared to the UK. I am about to be transferred to London and was given a check-sheet of all the things that are different over there. One of them is the fact that my multisystem plasma TV isn’t going to work without a converter. I just assumed electricity was the same worldwide but I was wrong.
I got the converter for my TV but decided just to purchase a new code free DVD player and save myself the hassle of having to get a converter for it as well. I had no idea things were so different over there when talking about electrical appliances. I decided to wait until I got settled in to purchase a new hair dryer, flat iron, and just about all the electrical appliances I already have.
I know it will take me a while to get used to all the changes. I actually considered not taking anything that I’ve purchased in the United States and just start over when I get there. But I haven’t had my multisystem plasma TV for very long and I paid too much to just leave it behind. Hopefully it will ship well and not reach me in a thousand different pieces.
I will be leaving the United States in two months to start my new life in England. I’m looking forward to learning about someplace new but a little nervous about everything that is so different than what it is here. When I bought my new DVD I had to make sure it was actually a region free DVD player because the codes are all different over there too. There’s just so much to learn; I sure hope I get the hang of it quickly.
